My Customer Avatar is named Brittany. She lives on the 9th floor of the Standard Apartment Complex, she lives with her 3 best friends in a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom apartment. Her room is decorated in light blues and light pinks, she has a stack of books on her nightstand that she never intends on reading. Her walls are adorned with tapestries of places like Paris and Tokyo (places she’s never been before) and from her ceiling hangs twinkling lights. In her closet hangs her favorite clothes from Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, and Pacsun. Her one true love is her miniature labradoodle Coco, named after Coco Chanel of course. She’s a Junior at UF, and although living in Gainesville Florida, isn’t all that luxurious she’s found her place here. Five ways in which I think I have Human Capital:  Passion- I only do things that I genuinely enjoy so that I can give the things I love my absolute all. I don't believe in doing things j Determination- I strive to achieve my goals regardless of what it takes to get them. I am not afraid of working hard for the things I want.  Compassion- I have a serious want to listen and care after people, whether I know them personally or not.  Authenticity- Regardless of what situation I am put into, I remain who I am and stick closely to what I value and believe.  Bilingual- I speak both English and Japanese fluently and understand most Spanish. I am half Japanese and have traveled back and forth between the states and there which has completely broadened my horizons and impacted who I am. I hold this part very near to me because it has greatly changed my perspective on life.  Five Interviews (Recorded and Summarized)  The Question: “In your own words...

Interview Summaries:  1) I interviewed an individual within my target segment named Halle who is a Sophomore at the University of Florida. I began by asking her questions about how she chooses to purchase things, what she thinks about in the back of her mind when deciding. She explained that although she is on a college budget, she has a lot of scholarship money so she primarily chooses based off of quality, style, and overall liking. Price did however play a role, she explained that she wouldn’t buy expensive things if she didn’t feel as though they were worth it. She also buys based off of necessity, she said she seldom buys thing out of random just because she wants them, this way she has more money to spend on things she needs but can get higher quality things like organic foods. She says that there is always more than one factor that goes into deciding if she buys something or not. Additionally, she says unless its groceries or toiletries, she primarily buys things on lin...

1)      Tenaciousness is a competency.  Some behaviors that I used to keep up with this course is personal time management, and focus. I would have to block off certain times in my day/week to watch the video lectures, write the blog prompts and respond to my peers’ posts. Besides setting time apart to accomplish these things I also needed to focus while doing so. The “cupcakes” test random parts of the lecture, if you are not paying enough attention to all of the parts of the lecture than you could miss an answer to the cupcake. I also needed to focus and schedule in time to interview my colleagues and friends. Some assignments required us to interview a certain segment of people and reflect so this certainly required focus and time-management.  2)      Tenaciousness is also about attitude.  One moment during the course when I felt like giving up was when I went home over the weekend to celebrate my 20 th birthday with my parent...

1) I had no prior inkling on the life and history of Gabrielle “coco” Chanel. I was most surprised by just how complex and mysterious her life was. I had no idea that she endured such an unfortunate childhood. After the death of her mother, she and her two sisters were abandoned by their father. This ultimately resulted in her being orphaned and having a lifelong fear of abandonment. Another thing that surprised me though, is that she often fabricated the story of her childhood to others and the public. She claimed that her father had to leave to America to find his fortune when in reality, he was a “drunken braggart” and never traveled to America. What she overcame from her youth to become the icon is she is remembered as today was certainly the most surprising to me. What I admired most about her was her devotion to changing the status quo. The fashion pieces she found most comfortable and appealing she made into highly desirable fashion. She ignored what was mainstream at the t...

The segment I have chose is 3 University of Florida students who are all female, apart of Greek Life and various organizations on campus, and ride either a scooter or bicycle to get around. The first (Annika) is a second year pre-dental major, apart of Zeta Tau Alpha, and gets to classes and labs on her scooter. The next (Gabriela) is a first year business major, apart of Alpha Omicron Pi, and gets to class and meetings on her bicycle. The last (Julia) is a senior nursing major, apart of Tridelta, and takes her scooter to Shand’s hospital and around campus for class.  What I learned:  As expected their need for the product is most salient when they are operating their vehicles and choose not to wear a helmet. All three expressed that they feel a tinge of guilt riding their bicycle or scooter without a helmet because they know it is unsafe and don’t want to get hurt. Therefore, they admitted that their solution to the problem is actually none at all. Instead of wearing t...

1) My name is Emily Patton! I am a second year marketing student with a minor in Japanese and planning to join the MIB combined degree program next year. I am 20 years old, from South Florida, and Half Japanese/ Half American. My talents include dancing as I have trained since I was 5, excelling in school, acting as a mentor, and creating interpersonal relationships with others. I am skilled at generating new ideas, being compassionate to those around me, and adapting to new situations. Primarily, my aspirations for myself include making me and my parents proud. They are the reason I have gotten so far in life and my only goal is to give back to them. More specifically however, I would like to start working for a beauty or fashion company as a marketing specialist. I am pursuing the Master’s in International Business so I can connect two very important parts of who I am (being Japanese and American) through beauty and fashion. I believe its a way to help both understand the other more...
